April Ross

April Ross was one of the few female beach volleyball players who have won medals during more than one Olympics. Alix Klineman has become a brand new Olympian who will be joining her in Tokyo. But more than that, Ross hopes to win her very first Olympic gold. With her age of 39, this may be her final chance to win the gold medal at an Olympics. The athlete is optimistic she will be able to win top awards. Ross through NBC Boston, said that If the team is performing consistently or well it could be able to win gold. "I'm also going to try some luck." Ross was born in 1982 and was raised in Costa Mesa California with her siblings and parents, started competing in athletics at the Newport Harbor High School. In addition to playing in numerous sports, Ross also attended Newport Harbor High School. She played basketball and ran the track as well as her indoor volleyball achievements in her time as a college athlete. When she played in the final sport she was clearly the standout. During her high school career she played middle blocker, outside hitter and setter at the tennis court as per her college bio. Her achievements were rewarded in 1999 when she was named Gatorade's Circle of Champions National Players of the Year. In 2000, the Orange County Athlete of the Month was also received by her in volleyball. Ross and Klineman have been performing their roles since 2017. However, Ross was an important player in the world of beach volleyball before joining the duo. It's true that she has been able to win multiple events, and one was won by the legendary player of volleyball. Jennifer Kessy was her partner for six years, from 2007 until 2013. She also worked with Klineman as well as herself. Together, Kessy Ross, she was a major force in the world circuit, winning an international title in 2009. The duo would go on to win a silver in the 2012 Olympic Games at London. The legendary Misty Maytreanor team as well as Kerri Jennings took home the gold. Ross Jennings took over for May-Treanor after she announced her retirement. The duo won the beach volleyball bronze during the Rio Olympics in 2016. In high school and the several years prior to hitting the sand professionally, Ross was a ball to the Trojans at USC while an NCAA. The Trojans had a great run for Ross at the college level. She was a All-American and Pac-10 Freshman of the Year when she was a teen freshman. Her performance also assisted in helping the Trojans reach the Final Four. The Trojans were devastated through a tragedy in her life during her sophomore year. However, she was able to make it an All-American once more. In her last two seasons as a member of the Trojans' program the team was led to victory by winning the national title in consecutive years. Ross was an excellent volleyball player and won the Honda Sports Award in 2003-04 as the best female volleyball player in the NCAA. Ross was who was a USC international relations student was a star in volleyball. Margie Ross was never able to see her daughter reach the top of the beach volleyball ladder. In 2001 when Ross was in her sophomore year at USC her mother passed away from breast cancer. This meant that Ross remains close to her parent who died. Margie is a constant source of inspiration for her both at and off the beaches.
