Arianna Huffington
Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington, a Greek American businesswoman and syndicated journalist, is also an author. She's written 15 books and is the cofounder the magazine The Huffington Post. Arianna Huffington is a writer TV personality, philanthropist, and the owner of the independent open online newsmagazine The Huffington Post. Her birthplace was in Greece and relocated to England when she was sixteen. When she attended Cambridge University, she graduated with an MA in Economics. At 21 she became president of the famed debate society The Cambridge Union' and was the first foreign student in the history of Cambridge University to be elected. In the years following after her college graduation, she became an influential right-wing syndicated reporter. In the years later she created The Huffington Post which featured criticism of the present political landscape. Her popularity enabled her to get a variety of famous people to share their opinions regarding current affairs, the political and culture. Arianna's celebrity status began in 2003, when she was a candidate for an independent for the California recall vote to replace then-Governor Davis. Aside from that, Arianna was also the leader of the Detroit initiative to promote fuel-efficient automobiles. In 2009 she was named by Forbes as the most influential women in the media, achieving 12th position on their list. The same year Guardian named her to the top 100 media list. AOL purchased The Huffington Post from AOL in 2011. In 2012, she became the President of the AOL media group. It was comprised of several AOL-owned brands, including Engadget AOL Style List and Patch Media. The parents of her were Elli as well as Konstantinos Stasinopoulos who was an expert in management and a journalist. Though she shared a close relationship with both her father and mother but it was their connection that helped shape her. As a child, she showed leadership traits which she is still renowned for. When she was 16 she moved into the United Kingdom to pursue her education and was enrolled at Girton College Cambridge. In the years of her university she was a member of the Cambridge Union debating group where she became the first woman and the only foreign president. In 1972, her Master's in Economics was conferred. She became a writer, a critic as well as a host on TV and a columnist after her graduation. In addition, along with Bernard Levin she appeared on the show Face the music.
