Winona-Ryder

Winona Ryder is the professionally-known name of Winona Laura Hoowitz, born within Winona Minnesota. The name of her parents was derived from the town she grew up in. Michel Horowitz is her father and Cynthia Palmer is her mother. Ryder believes she is Jewish and descends from Ryder's Jewish father. Ryder is the youngest sister of Uria, and has half-siblings Jubal & Sunyata. Ryder was born in the United States and moved with her family to Mendocino County California at the age of seven. There, they didn't have electricity. Ryder was a voracious read and often spent her time studying books since there was no television. Ryder started taking acting classes at the American Conservatory Theatre when she turned 12 years old. At the age of 15years old, Ryder was offered her first acting job on the screen in Lucas. Ryder experienced bullying at the high school. Ryder hoped that her actions could bring change. However, it didn't come pass. However, she kept working towards her dream. Her biggest break was in 1988 when she appeared in Tim Burton's Beetlejuice. Ryder continued to be successful in her roles in many movies. In 1993 she won an Academy Award for The Age of Innocence.
