In 2017 Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi as well as Daddy Yankee released Despacito and it became the highest-streamed hit song during the course of six months. Following the time that Justin Bieber released his bilingual remix of Despacito in 2017, popular artists started to work together with reggaeton singers. Drake and Bad Bunny collaborated for the track MIA MIA (2018) and Madonna and Maluma collaborated on Medellin, 2019 In the year 2020, some Reggaeton stars were dissatisfied with how the genre was moving toward mainstream. However, a younger generation, Rauw Alejandro wanted to push forward the progression. His music often contained elements from different genres as well as electronic dance.
